Small high quality original oak case of elegant proportions with (removable) caddy top, long shaped-top trunk door and raised panel to the base - all over exceptional colour
Square brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed "W Newby - Kendal", spandrels to the corners, blued steel hands, seconds dial and date aperture, detailed engraving to the dial centre

This clock by William Newby
of Kendal
in Westmorland in the English Lake District who worked individually and together with James Newby
they may have been brothers. Various clocks recorded by them both with brass and painted dials. Clocks range between 1765 and 1800.
