About the maker:

Richard Wills started working around 1750 and was making clocks up until 1805 - he is generally considered to be the finest of the Cornish clockmakers of this period.  He was versatile in making domestic clocks as well as the turret clock for St Marys Church Truro.  He also made sundials and partly constructed an astronomical clock with a musical train that was finished and exhibited by his son William.  William continued the business until 1819
