George Searle of Chudleigh Devon
Circa 1795
Height: 78 inches
Status: Sold
A small and very elegant George III period oak 30 hour grandfather clock with quite exceptional engraved silvered brass dial
The simple oak case has a swan-neck pediment and an elegant long door to the trunk and brass capped hood columns
The silvered engraved brass dial is a work of art! Cherubs to the corners and a distinctive signature 'Geo Searle - Chudleigh' most likely engraved by the maker himself and not as usual by a skilled engraver
George Searle is listed as working in the small Devon village of Chudleigh in 1793
